Donald Trump’s political philosophy and actions resonate with such a vision, seemingly dragging America back to an era reminiscent of medieval darkness.
Under Trump’s influence, the United States risks embracing a Republican dictatorship that prioritizes power consolidation over democracy. His leadership encourages where governance is dictated by the corporate oligarchy and aristocratic elite who control wealth and influence, and where leverage of wealth and privilege dominate by leaving low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities ignored and marginalized. Women’s rights face consistent attacks, and chauvinistic ideals have been emboldened in public discourse.
The resurgence of such medieval ideologies under Donald Trump’s leadership paints a grim picture. Policies reminiscent of private kidnapping prisons thrive under the guise of immigration control, perpetuating a system of mass deportation that dehumanizes asylum seekers’ human rights. The erosion of human dignity is further highlighted by blaming all the country’s troubles on asylum seekers and immigrants feeling violence and persecution and treating them as enemies rather than individuals fleeing human rights hardships, fueling a form of societal cannibalism where the vulnerable are cast aside for political gain. Trump’s policies foster environmental degradation, disregarding the urgent need to combat climate change. Meanwhile, global injustices, such as the inhumane treatment of Palestinians, are met with silence or complicity.
Perhaps most alarming is the suggestion of constitutional amendments tailored to fit this authoritarian vision, a disturbing echo of medieval despotism. Such changes aim to undermine democracy and establish a world order steeped in inequality and repression.
